5. In pairs, role–play the situation. You are in one of British schools. A British teacher of Geography wants their students to know more about Ukraine. Answer their questions. Teacher: Where is Ukraine situated? You: Ukraine lies in the geographical centre of Europe. Teacher: What can you say about its geographical position? You: It has a very favourable geographical position – Ukraine is large, with fertile black soil, mild climate, and many rivers, mountains, forests, and steppes. Teacher: Which countries is Ukraine bordered by? You: Ukraine borders Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, Belarus and Russia. Teacher: What seas is it washed by? You: It is washed by the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov in the south. Teacher: Which parts of Ukraine are occupied by mountains? You: The Carpathian Mountains are in the west, and the Crimean Mountains are in the south. Teacher: What nationalities is your country inhabited by? You: Mostly Ukrainians, but also Russians, Belarusians, Moldovans, Crimean Tatars, Jews, Poles, Hungarians, and others. Teacher: Is Ukraine visited by tourists? You: Yes, of course. Tourists come to see the beautiful Carpathian Mountains, the Black Sea coast, historical cities like Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa, as well as our unique culture and traditions.
