a) Interesting facts about Lviv High Castle:

1. Lviv High Castle stands on Castle Hill, which is the highest point of Lviv, about 413 metres above sea level.

2. The first fortifications on this hill were made of wood and soil, later a brick castle was built there.

3. Today the castle is in ruins: only some fragments of the walls and earthworks are left.

4. In the 19th century an artificial mound, called the Union of Lublin Mound, was made on the top of the hill.

5. Lviv High Castle Hill is a very popular place for walking; from its viewing platform you can see almost the whole city.

b) Possible guide’s story:

Dear tourists, welcome to Lviv High Castle. We are now on Castle Hill, the highest point of Lviv. The first wooden fortifications were built here in the thirteenth century. Later a brick castle appeared and became the main defensive fortress of the city. Today only ruins of the castle are left, but this place is still very important for Lviv. In the nineteenth century people built here an artificial mound in honour of the Union of Lublin. From the viewing platform you can enjoy a wonderful panorama of the old town and the modern districts. Please be careful on the paths and do not throw litter. Enjoy your visit to Lviv High Castle!
