B. Complete the dialogue with the phrases a–f. There is one extra phrase.

Ellie: The comic book I ordered is here at last!

Andy: Didn’t you bring a copy of this comic book with you from Spain last week?

Ellie: It’s a long story. On my last day in Madrid, I saw this comic book about Vincent van Gogh at a nice little bookshop. I thought that it would make a fantastic present for my friend Lisa.

Andy: Lisa’s the one who’s been learning Spanish, right?

Ellie: Yeah, that’s right.

Andy: (1) b. You always choose wonderful presents for your friends.

Ellie: Well, I try! I thought that it would be a great way for her to practise the language. (2) d. Without a second thought, I bought it.

Andy: So, why did you get a second copy?

Ellie: I’m getting to that. You see, when I got on the plane, I took the comic book out of the bag and glanced through it. (3) a. What I saw came as a complete surprise to me! To my horror, I discovered that it was in English!

Andy: Oh no! Wait a minute. Now I see...

Ellie: (4) f. I made up my mind there and then. I would keep the English version for myself. Then, as soon as the plane touched down, I went online and ordered a new one for Lisa – I just made sure it was in Spanish this time!

Andy: Nice! So, when are you giving it to her?
