The Thames is a very important river in Great Britain. It gave birth to the capital, London. The river twists and turns through beautiful countryside and historic towns. In central London every part of the river reminds people of former days. There are palaces, docks, cathedrals and churches, fine bridges, theatres and museums along the Thames. People can walk along the river or take a boat and explore the city’s past. They can also go shopping in luxurious malls on the riverside and try fine foods in many pubs and restaurants. That is why the Thames is so important for the people of Great Britain.
