My name is Andriy Kovalenko. I was born in 2011 in Lviv, Ukraine. I grew up in a small flat in a quiet neighbourhood with my parents and my younger sister. When I was a child, I often spent my holidays in the village with my grandparents, playing outside all day and helping them in the garden.

My family has always been very close. We keep many Ukrainian traditions. We always celebrate Christmas and Easter together. My mum cooks borshch and varenyky, and my dad tells us funny stories about his childhood. My parents have taught me to respect older people, to be honest and to work hard.

I started school when I was six. At first I was shy, but then I made a lot of friends. My favourite subjects are English and History, because I like learning about other countries and people. In my free time I enjoy playing football, listening to music and watching films. Last year I won a school award for taking part in an English contest.

Looking back, I can say that I have had a happy childhood. I have learnt that family and friends are the most important things in life. I have decided to study hard to become a translator in the future. I hope that my knowledge and experience will help me travel the world and still stay close to my family.
