Умова завдання

Work in groups of four. Discuss the statements given below. 1. “I wanted to be independent, but I find it’s better to be independent at home.” 2. Some teenagers use the house like a hotel, with all services. They treat parents as moneybags and then ignore them or just insult them. 3. Well-educated, middle-class young adults are not leaving home. They find it just easier and cheaper to stay in the family nest.

1) I wanted to be independent, but I find it’s better to be independent at home.

I agree with this idea. Many teenagers want freedom, but it is usually safer and cheaper to live at home. At home you can still make your own decisions, but your parents can help you when you have problems. You can learn to cook, do housework and manage your money, so you become more independent step by step.

2) Some teenagers use the house like a hotel, with all services. They treat parents as moneybags and then ignore them or just insult them.

In my opinion this is true for some teenagers. They don’t help with housework and only want money from their parents. I think it is very unfair, because a family is not a hotel. Children should respect their parents, talk to them and share duties at home.

3) Well-educated, middle-class young adults are not leaving home. They find it just easier and cheaper to stay in the family nest.

Today many young adults stay at home longer. It is hard to find a good job and rent a flat, so it is easier and cheaper to live with parents if you have good relations. On the other hand, young people should also learn to live on their own in the future and not depend on their parents all their life.
