William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, a small town in England. When he was only 18, he married Anne Hathaway, who was eight years older than him. They had three children, including twins Hamnet and Judith. Later Shakespeare moved to London and became an actor and a playwright. He wrote about 37 plays and 154 sonnets, and he was one of the owners of the famous Globe Theatre. His theatre burned down during a performance of Henry VIII in 1613 but was later rebuilt. Shakespeare died in 1616, and many people think he died on his 52nd birthday, 23 April.
