Good morning, dear friends. Today I'd like to tell you about the history of the Internet. The story begins in the late 1960s, when American scientists created ARPANET to connect universities and research centres. In the 1970s people started to send e-mails through this network. In 1983 a common language for networks, called TCP/IP, appeared and many new networks joined the Internet. In 1989–1991 Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web and the first web browser at CERN in Switzerland. In the mid-1990s the Internet became open to millions of ordinary users around the world. Later broadband, Wi-Fi and mobile Internet made the connection faster and cheaper. Today we use the Internet every day to study, work, shop, play games and talk to friends. The number of websites and users is growing every year. I am sure that the Internet will continue to change our lives in the future. Thank you for your attention.
