The oldest part of the castle “the upper castle” was constructed in the 15th century, while the “middle” and “lower” castles were built in the middle of the 17th century. Bastions surround each castle. There are also fortified gates with bridges over the moats. Nowadays the castle functions as a historical museum. Its galleries contain an exhibition of modern sculpture.

Mukachevo Palanok Castle was built on a 68-meter hill rising over the Valley of Latorytsya River. Замок Паланок у Мукачеві було збудовано на 68-метровому пагорбі, що піднімається над долиною річки Латориця. Найстаріша частина замку – «верхній замок» – була споруджена у XV столітті, тоді як «середній» і «нижній» замки були побудовані в середині XVII століття. Бастіони оточують кожну частину замку. Також є укріплені брами з мостами над ровами. Нині замок функціонує як історичний музей. Його галереї містять виставку сучасної скульптури.
