1. I agree that in most cases our future really starts at school. We like certain subjects better than other, so the foundation of our future careers is laid at school. But of course there are exceptions. A young girl may become a model, or just marry a rich person and her previous education will be irrelevant in that case. It also seems that successful sportsmen needn’t much education either. A son of a rich businessman will also take a post at his father’s enterprise regardless of his level of education. 2. It wasn’t always so. When technologies developed comparatively slowly a person could work all his or her life as an engineer, or a telegraphist, or a doctor. But nowadays new materials, technologies, methods appear nearly every day, and to keep up to new demands people have to get new information, which means to learn. Only very big bosses may relax in their board-rooms, while their employees do all the work for them hoping to get a promotion.
