They (4) came from a faraway land looking for a new home. Soon they (5) found a beautiful hill on the bank of the Dnipro River. They (6) decided to settle down there and build their city. The family (7) named the city Kyiv after the eldest brother, Kyi. Years (8) passed, and the city of Kyiv (9) became a major trading place and a centre of culture and learning. As the city (10) grew, so did its fame and it eventually (11) became the capital of the Kievan Rus. Today, Kyiv is a busy metropolis with a population of more than three million people. It is still an important industrial, cultural and educational centre in the very heart of Ukraine.
