Jack London (real name John Griffith London) was an American writer who lived from 1876 to 1916. He was born in San Francisco, California, in a very poor family. When he was young, he worked on ships, in factories and went to Alaska during the gold rush. These difficult jobs and travels gave him many ideas for his adventure stories. His most famous books are “The Call of the Wild”, “White Fang” and “Martin Eden”. Many of his stories are about brave people and strong animals who have to fight for life in the cold North. In his books Jack London often shows the struggle between man and nature and between good and evil in people. His stories are exciting and sometimes sad, but they make readers think about life and character. Today his books are still very popular all over the world.
