Dear Ann,

How are you? Last winter I visited a Christmas fair in Lviv. It took place in the city centre near the Opera House. The fair was open every day from 19th December to 7th January, and I went there on New Year’s Eve.

The weather was cold and frosty, but the sky was clear and the streets were full of lights. There were many people: families with children, tourists from other countries and local students.

At the fair there were small wooden houses with handmade souvenirs, pottery, toys and sweets. You could taste traditional Ukrainian food, drink hot tea or cocoa and listen to Christmas carols.

In the evening there was a concert on the main stage. Children in national costumes sang and danced, and later we watched a beautiful fireworks display. The whole atmosphere was very festive, friendly and a bit magical.

I enjoyed this fair very much and I hope we can visit it together one day.

Best wishes,

Olha
