9. a) Read about some of the latest youth subcultures. Then name

them and describe how they are different from the older ones.

Modern youth groups are different from older subcultures because they are mostly based on shared interests, hobbies, lifestyle, and online communication.

For example:

Tumblr girls focus on style, feelings, and creative self–expression.

Quadrobics kids enjoy moving like animals as a fun activity.

Bronies are fans of My Little Pony and value friendship, positivity, and creativity.

Workout fans care about fitness, discipline, and self–improvement.

Older subcultures like punks, goths, and hippies were usually based on music, special clothes, and strong beliefs.

They often met in real life and stayed in the group for a long time.

Modern groups are more digital, flexible, and fast–changing.

People can join several groups at the same time and leave them easily.
