19. Complete the rhyme with auxiliary verbs. Then learn it and retell.

TODAY WAS NOT A VERY GOOD DAY

Today was not a very good day.

Sometimes they just turn out that way.

When I got up I had (1) stubbed my toe.

Then I cried 'cause it hurt so.

Morning, noon and even night

I did (2) not do anything right.

So now before I shut my eyes,

I will (3) try to analyse.

I said a word I know was bad...

I had (4) pushed a friend — and he got mad...

(someone pushed me and I was sad)

A real fun time we COULD have had.

Tomorrow I will (5) try again,

to try and be a better friend.

Right now I will (6) close my eyes and sleep.

Too soon that old alarm will (7) beep.
